The Research Collections Department of the Explorers Club is devoted to historical material including art, film, photos, maps, manuscripts, memorabilia, and a rare-book library. The main subject areas represented are science and scientific investigation, terrestrial exploration in the 19th and 20th centuries, and the institutional records of The Explorers Club and its members. In late 2005, the Research Collections began its first Artist-in-Residence Program and selected Ellie Ga to become its inaugural A-I-R. In turn, Ellie Ga and David Adamo founded the micro explorers club--a club within the club to foster the charting of alternative territories.
